RDDS Avionics Team Takes Part in Whitstable Volunteering Day, Supporting Local Rewilding Efforts

Last week, a group of us from RDDS Avionics spent the day in Whitstable taking part in a volunteering initiative with the Kentish Stour Countryside Partnership. It was a fantastic opportunity to step away from our day-to-day work and contribute to an environmental project that will have a lasting impact on the local area.

Working alongside the KSCP team, we helped plant a large number of tree saplings using the Miyawaki method — an innovative and highly effective approach to reforestation. Unlike traditional planting techniques, the Miyawaki method focuses on creating dense, native micro-forests designed to grow quickly, restore biodiversity, and strengthen local ecosystems.

Despite the muddy boots and chilly weather, the team spirit was brilliant throughout. From digging and planting to learning more about the ecological benefits of this technique, it was a rewarding and eye-opening experience for everyone involved.

At RDDS, we’re proud to support initiatives that give back to our community and help protect the natural environment around us. A huge thank you to the Kentish Stour Countryside Partnership for guiding us through the day and for the important work they continue to do across Kent.

We’re already looking forward to our next volunteering opportunity — and to seeing how these new micro-forests thrive over the coming years.
