Through Life Support

We have years of experience in providing Through Life Management via customer tailored Logistic Support contracts.  The company is organised to assist the user at all stages of a program through operator/maintenance training, spares provisioning, maintenance contracts and post design services. Often, this involves recommending and supplying spare parts determined in accordance with the products MTBF, the mission profile and the customer’s turn-around time requirement. User’s Training and Maintenance Training courses can be provided, in our factory, or at the user’s site, in Europe or overseas.

RDDS Avionics Limited can propose maintenance contracts including full obsolescence management and configuration management, tailored to the user’s maintenance policy and usage profile.

Unit Repairs

While facing the harsh rigours of the Mission Environment even the toughest of equipment may be subject to damage or failure, thankfully, the RDDS repairs team are on hand to provide fast and efficient repairs in such events.

We understand the unique challenges faced by Mission operators and the dangers of excessive AoG timeframes, as such, we have worked very hard to provide an efficient and fast service for the repair and resolution of any issues you might face.

End to end the repairs process is as follows:

  • Request Received
  • RMA Issued
  • Initial Unit Inspection, Test and Fault Finding
  • Confirmation of Fault and RTAT issued
    • Repair Terms Agreement
    • Repair & Return of Unit with release certification.
Product Reliability – FMEA and MTBF Analysis

RDDS Engineers maintain a robust and conservative approach to Hardware Failure Analysis. Our Mean Time between Failure rates use calculations according to MIL-HDBK-217F Reliability Prediction of Electronic Equipment.

This analysis is continuously revisited during the design process, with every opportunity to improve Hardware reliability explored and actioned in collaboration with the customer, allowing us to produce a robust solution you can trust for years to come.

Using the data from the in-depth MTBF calculations, our Engineers produce a Failure Mode Effects and Analysis (FMEA) report, where all possible failure modes, their effect, severity, detection method and likelihood are calculated. This allows for RDDS engineers to ascertain otherwise undetectable failure modes and add in detecting functionality (BIT), also taking care to prevent any unacceptable failure modes.

This information and analysis is provided to the end user, allowing you to better accomplish system-level testing and of course, should you require it, our Engineering Team are on hand to support and troubleshoot any integration issues you may face.

    Modification Programmes

As Mission Parameters evolve, the requirements for your hardware may change or grow in scope. Thankfully, RDDS is on hand to support your needs throughout the project lifespan.

Modification programmes can take many forms, from Firmware Updates to interface control panels or displays, to Form, Fit, Function replacements of equipment when a more fundamental change is required. These modification programmes take the same approach as the rest of our Bespoke projects and we encourage you to visit our Bespoke Capabilities page to find out more.
