Here’s what John had to say…
How long have you worked here?
I joined RDDS on 29th April 2013.
What are some of your fondest memories from your time here?
Christmas parties and company days out have been fun things to do.
How has the industry/company changed since you first started?
RDDS had about 20 people when I started here and now, we have 37 so, quite a bit of growth over the years. We only worked on Aviation parts back then but over the years we have tried to expand into Land Vehicles and Marine – the Marine route has proved most successful and currently we earn more from that than Aviation. Marine work has however brought with it a lot of new regulations, specifications, legislation and document writing, (which has not always been fun or easy!). Peter has talked about moving site from Margate for many years and it was really good for that to finally come to fruition a couple of years ago. Quite a few people have joined and left RDDS during my time here only 11 of the original 20 still work here, we have had some real characters who have been fun to know.
What will you miss the most about working here?
I will miss most of my fellow members of staff.
What are you most looking forward to in retirement?
Staying up late when I want to, not having to set an alarm every weekday morning, being able to decide what I do every day, going for walks, spending more time looking after my garden.
