The IU1800 is a versatile and powerful Video Management Unit (VMU) that supports the routing and manipulation of a wide variety of Video Signals. The perfect solution to plug the gaps in an established system or resolve compatibility issues between sensors and hardware.

The IU1800 range follows RDDS’ commitment to being an ‘Integration Problem Solver’, every variant is designed to resolve integration issues in systems that utilise hardware from a variety of brands, making it a highly valuable solution for integrators who do not wish to limit themselves to a single supplier, this approach can often result in significant cost reduction on integration and modification programmes.

RDDS’ mission in designing the IU1800 was to create a single box solution to support our customers myriad requirements for video switching, conversion and splitting. Taking advantage of our 25 years in VMU excellence, our Engineers have developed a unit that maintains the reliability, cost efficiency and risk mitigation of a qualified commercial off the shelf product, while still offering the scope and potential of a bespoke solution.

Variants can be developed to meet your unique needs, supporting a wide range of Input/Output requirements, such as:

  • Composite (RS170/PAL/NTSC)

  • VGA – RGBHV from VGA (640×480) to WUXGA (1920×1200)
  • RGsB (Sync on Green) o Including STANAG 3350 Class A, B or C.

Due to it’s compact design, the IU1800 can be installed in virtually any interior location on an Aircraft. All the unit’s electronics are designed and manufactured by RDDS with an emphasis on through-life support, reliability and ruggedness.

The base frame is a small form factor, fully autonomous unit with Built in Test (BiT) functionality and NVG Compliant LED status indicators. Housed within a compact, rugged case, the core unit is built around a ‘set and forget’ philosophy, allowing operators to focus on what really matters.

An additional benefit of the IU1800 range is reducing cable weight on a platform, by centrally routing all Video Signals to a single source, integrators can make significant gains in SWOP optimisation.
